What is the Server Interface?

The Server Interface is an application which was developed in order to manage the most critical areas of Linux servers via any web browser.

With the Server Interface application you can manage a Linux system without the knowledge of complicated UNIX commands.

Server Interface™ comes installed and pre-configured for FREE in all of our Linux systems! This represents an invaluable feature for your servers, as opposed to settling for an over priced server with just a space on a rack.

Overview:

Server Interface allows Linux systems to work integrally in the same system in order to perform the operation of the following critical aspects:

DNS, HTTPD, SMTP, POP, FTP, Quotas and SERVER STATUS. It includes a 2 level interface, one for the use of the main administrator or system owner and the other for the use of the end users/employees/customers.

Operating System

Server & System Status

Server Interface allows the administrator to check the status or health of the following services in real and secure time: ftp, httpd, httpsd, named sendmail, telnet, Memory, Swap, Load Average, CPU usage, Disk usage, Disk partitions, Reboot Server and much more.

 IP Numbers

Server Interface™ allows the administrator to add IP numbers to the server.

Domain Name Server (DNS)

This function is used in order to "add, List, Show and Delete" domain name entries on your server. After adding a new domain, your DNS server will serve responses for the domain which you have added. The following hosts will be added by default:

domain.dom, ns.domain.dom, ns2.domain.dom,www.domain.dom, mail.domain.dom, ftp.domain.dom.

Also, a priority 10 MX record will be added for the domain pointing to mail.domain.dom., the nameservers authoritative for this domain will be the primary nameservers on your machine. Some of the data types supported are:

A Address Record
CNAME Canonical Name Record
MX Mail Exchange Record
PTR Address Pointer Record
NS Name Server Record
HINFO Host Info Record
TXT Text Comment Record

NOTE: Developers and Hosting providers can offer multiple name server records (NS's and NS2's)

Virtual Sites

This feature adds a virtual host to your server. It allows administrators to add or delete the newest Front Page Extensions and it also includes an option which grants permission to the user to use the interface in order to manipulate Front Page extensions. If checked, SSL will add a Virtual Host for the user in the SSL daemon and much more.

Email Accounts

This function adds user accounts to the system. If the box labeled "Disable Telnet Access" is checked, then the user will be unable to telnet into the machine. If the box labeled "Disable FTP Access" is checked, then the user will be able to ftp into the machine. This section also lists User Accounts, adds forwarding accounts, and/or autoresponders.

Set Quota

This function sets quotas for a user on a filesystem on your server. This filesystem is capable of setting the quotas on (eg, /home or /var). The hard block limit is the absolute maximum amount of blocks which the user is allowed to use. The soft block limit is the amount of blocks a user can have before he or she will trigger warnings about usage. The hard inode limit is the absolute maximum amount of inodes the user may have. The soft inode limit is the amount of inodes a user can have before he or she will trigger warnings about usage.

End User / Employee / Customers Server Interface

Server Interfaceincludes a second level interface called "end user interface". This allows administrator to delegate most common functions to the end user. This interface can be used by large companies with more than 100 employees so that each employee can manage their own world. It is also very useful for web developers and web hosting companies so that end users can add more email aliases or even Front Page extensions, etc.

Branded to your company

Among the most impressive features in the web interface are plain HTML codes. We allow you to brand both levels of the interface with your company's own name. There are also links within the interface which allows you to connect your users to your support site, to your site, even to additional services if you would like them to see other features which your company has to offer.

W ebServer Statistics New! !

Finally, we include the latest version of the webserver statistics software from Wusage version 7.0.
It allows the administrator of each site to summarize the types of requests his/her pages are getting.
